Foods, cafes, hardware, souvenirs across the halls. Like all local markets, worth a visit to see local produce. Best to go in the morning when produce is best and slightly quieter than early evenings apparently. .

I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.

It is open every day, but can get crowded... read more in parts but is quite interesting to wander round and there is are tons of fruit there. As in all markets there are pick pockets operating according to the commentary on the canal boat ride that we took. Whilst you are there try some of the halvah there. I only knew that they had sesame ones but here there are many other types.
This is also a good place to have a snack/lunch as it’s cheaper than the old town area.

  Riga Central Market  - Excellent food market . From fish, meat , vegetables and flowers it has everything . Lots of retail outlets on upper floors selling typical market trinkets and clothing.

  Massive markets are a must see in Riga  - The food markets located in the old Zeppelin hangers are a must see when visiting Riga. There are fruit stands on the outside and five hangers full of stalls... read more inside. We bought some berries and pastries for breakfast, but were unable to get any of the smoked meat, fish or sausages except for deli meat for sandwiches for our bus trip. I liked to just amble around and look at all the food items common in Riga that we don’t have access to in the U.S.

  Massive food market  - This massive food market complex is worth to visit. They sell local products from fish to cheese, fruits and vegetables. Close by they also sell other items for example clothes... read more and since we visited during the Christmas season they had also a lot of seasonal products. There is a quite big food court with several diverse small restaurants/bars but we didn´t eat there as it was not our time for a meal and we wanted to continue exploring the city.

It is HUGE and full of everything from shoes to fish. Well worth taking a moment to get as near to real Latvia as being in Riga allows
