  The Best Market I’ve been at  - The market consists of 5 halls and it took us about 3-4 hours to go around and see all the goods and food there. We’ve had lunch in the food... read more court. We’ve found nice souvenirs. We bought the typical smoked fish for take- away. Also there we’ve taken fresh fruits. Prices are quite reasonable. Here one may find all typical foods and souvenirs from Riga. Highly recommend!

  Riga Market trip  - Really interesting market, we went in March and it was quiet, which was good. Different halls had different produce. The outside market is good as well.

  A huge food market - Riga Central Market was originally built to house Zeppelins . It is now a huge food market and a must visit.

It has the greatest amount of salted foods I have ever seen. The fish market for me was the highlight.

  Massive markets are a must see in Riga  - The food markets located in the old Zeppelin hangers are a must see when visiting Riga. There are fruit stands on the outside and five hangers full of stalls... read more inside. We bought some berries and pastries for breakfast, but were unable to get any of the smoked meat, fish or sausages except for deli meat for sandwiches for our bus trip. I liked to just amble around and look at all the food items common in Riga that we don’t have access to in the U.S.

  Huge! Go early. - Riga Central Market is situated in the heart of Riga, a short walk from the Old Town. It is one of the largest marketplaces in Eastern Europe. Huge!... read more Clean. I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.

  Enormous food market not to be missed!  - It was interesting to walk through this enormous food market both inside and outside five enormous former zeppelin hangars.

The indoor market seems to have been updated since I... read more was here seven years ago as one of the halls now has a mezzanine floor and some of them now contain cafes and restaurants.

Well worth a visit for a look and to buy some local foods.

It's a large... read more area over multiple sheds, each have a great range of things being sold, catering for mainly locals you get great prices and variety, I had lunch here most days and the choices were very good.

Note that it's not just inside but outside stalls, also great for daily fruit and veggies!!
