  The Best Market I’ve been at  - The market consists of 5 halls and it took us about 3-4 hours to go around and see all the goods and food there. We’ve had lunch in the food... read more court. We’ve found nice souvenirs. We bought the typical smoked fish for take- away. Also there we’ve taken fresh fruits. Prices are quite reasonable. Here one may find all typical foods and souvenirs from Riga. Highly recommend!

  Riga Central Market  - Excellent food market . From fish, meat , vegetables and flowers it has everything . Lots of retail outlets on upper floors selling typical market trinkets and clothing.

I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.

There are fruit stands on the outside and five hangers full of stalls... read more inside. We bought some berries and pastries for breakfast, but were unable to get any of the smoked meat, fish or sausages except for deli meat for sandwiches for our bus trip. I liked to just amble around and look at all the food items common in Riga that we don’t have access to in the U.S.
