  Always visit food markets when traveling... - Here in the former hangars, the surprise was great, very much alive where many people do their shopping for fish, meat and vegetables.The selection was plentiful and the fish section... read more was what made us linger the longest.Beautiful and tempting presentations of fresh ingredients.So different from the pre-packaged files from the grocery store.A few good fast food establishments are available, including a microbrewery.A short walk from the city.

  Massive food market  - This massive food market complex is worth to visit. They sell local products from fish to cheese, fruits and vegetables. Close by they also sell other items for example clothes... read more and since we visited during the Christmas season they had also a lot of seasonal products. There is a quite big food court with several diverse small restaurants/bars but we didn´t eat there as it was not our time for a meal and we wanted to continue exploring the city.

  Amazing - I loved this place—the atmosphere, the food options, the vibrant colors, and its massive size! I definitely recommend it; it’s a great spot for a quick lunch.

  Local market  - Typical big local market, it was close to our hotel so we spent a couple of hours there. Good selection of local produce but nothing amazing

  Does what it says on the tin – it’s a marketplace.  - This marketplace is set in some old adjoining Zeppelin hangers and they sell lots of fruit, flowers, meat, clothes etc.
It is open every day, but can get crowded... read more in parts but is quite interesting to wander round and there is are tons of fruit there. As in all markets there are pick pockets operating according to the commentary on the canal boat ride that we took. Whilst you are there try some of the halvah there. I only knew that they had sesame ones but here there are many other types.
This is also a good place to have a snack/lunch as it’s cheaper than the old town area.

  The Heart of Riga  - The market is incredible! There was a variety of produce at great prices. I had some strawberries and cherries that were to die for. There were also fun trinkets to... read more buy, like nesting dolls, amber jewelry, and beaver fur hats. The market is truly the heart of Riga and I would encourage anyone who has the change to go!

  Loved it.  - Probably my favorite thing I did in Riga, love going to these types of markets when I visit major cities and seeing what the locals eat.

It's a large... read more area over multiple sheds, each have a great range of things being sold, catering for mainly locals you get great prices and variety, I had lunch here most days and the choices were very good.

Note that it's not just inside but outside stalls, also great for daily fruit and veggies!!
