It has the greatest amount of salted foods I have ever seen. The fish market for me was the highlight.

Close by they also sell other items for example clothes... read more and since we visited during the Christmas season they had also a lot of seasonal products. There is a quite big food court with several diverse small restaurants/bars but we didn´t eat there as it was not our time for a meal and we wanted to continue exploring the city.

I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.

  Loved it.  - Probably my favorite thing I did in Riga, love going to these types of markets when I visit major cities and seeing what the locals eat.

It's a large... read more area over multiple sheds, each have a great range of things being sold, catering for mainly locals you get great prices and variety, I had lunch here most days and the choices were very good.

Note that it's not just inside but outside stalls, also great for daily fruit and veggies!!
