  The Best Market I’ve been at  - The market consists of 5 halls and it took us about 3-4 hours to go around and see all the goods and food there. We’ve had lunch in the food... read more court. It is HUGE and full of everything from shoes to fish. Well worth taking a moment to get as near to real Latvia as being in Riga allows

I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.
