  The Best Market I’ve been at  - The market consists of 5 halls and it took us about 3-4 hours to go around and see all the goods and food there. We’ve had lunch in the food... read more court. We’ve found nice souvenirs. We bought the typical smoked fish for take- away. Also there we’ve taken fresh fruits. Prices are quite reasonable. Here one may find all typical foods and souvenirs from Riga. Highly recommend!

The prices are... read more the same as the shops in the Old Town. We had a bread filled pie the first day, then Local soups the second time. We had beer from the Tap stall. Local beers are really cheap, so we did what the local people do, as hot drinks are more expensive.

  Local market  - Typical big local market, it was close to our hotel so we spent a couple of hours there. Good selection of local produce but nothing amazing

  Always visit food markets when traveling... - Here in the former hangars, the surprise was great, very much alive where many people do their shopping for fish, meat and vegetables.The selection was plentiful and the fish section... read more was what made us linger the longest.Beautiful and tempting presentations of fresh ingredients.So different from the pre-packaged files from the grocery store.A few good fast food establishments are available, including a microbrewery.A short walk from the city.

  Riga Market trip  - Really interesting market, we went in March and it was quiet, which was good. Different halls had different produce. The outside market is good as well.

  Huge! Go early. - Riga Central Market is situated in the heart of Riga, a short walk from the Old Town. It is one of the largest marketplaces in Eastern Europe. Huge!... read more Clean. I literally went to browse. At Riga Central Market, you can buy Latvian-grown and homemade products, exotic fruit and spices, as well as manufactured merchandise. The market includes various pavilions each with its own category from vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and gastronomy products, as well as an outdoor area with stalls and stands. There are also places where you can get a bite to eat. I went around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was busy, but not as busy as I expected. However, I would suggest going earlier. Most of the stalls were open but some of the fruit and vegetable stands were starting to close and produce was limited. I didn't experience it or feel threatened but I hear that pickpockets are rife so be careful with belongings.

Foods, cafes, hardware, souvenirs across the halls. Like all local markets, worth a visit to see local produce. Best to go in the morning when produce is best and slightly quieter than early evenings apparently. .

  The Heart of Riga  - The market is incredible! There was a variety of produce at great prices. I had some strawberries and cherries that were to die for. There were also fun trinkets to... read more buy, like nesting dolls, amber jewelry, and beaver fur hats. The market is truly the heart of Riga and I would encourage anyone who has the change to go!
